Accredited Tongue-tie Assessor Award - Terms & Conditions
Terms and Conditions: Course Duration, Assessment, Extensions and Deferrals
- Course duration and structure
1.1 The standard course duration for the Accredited Tongue-tie Assessor Award is twelve (12) months from the course start date.
1.2 Prerequisites for Clinic Attendance: Students must successfully complete the ‘Supporting Families with Infant Tongue-tie’ module quizzes and assessment, as well as the initial submission of all four (4) core workbooks, prior to attending their In-person Clinic Mentoring Day.
1.3 The Clinical & Practice Phase: Following clinic attendance, students must complete their clinical reflections and four (4) videoed case studies and write ups.
1.4 The student is responsible for managing their time and workload to ensure all prerequisites, clinic attendance, and final submissions are completed within the twelve (12) month duration.
- Assessment, marking and resubmission
2.1 Module Quizzes: Students must meet the required standard for each module quiz to progress. Students are permitted to retake module quizzes as many times as required within their active course period.
2.2 Supporting Families Assessment: Where this assessment does not meet the required standard, the student is permitted one (1) resubmission only, provided it is submitted within the active course period.
2.3 Workbooks: * There are four (4) core workbooks. Initial submissions must be completed prior to the In-person Clinic Mentoring Day.
a) Feedback is provided on Workbook 1 upon submission to ensure the student is meeting the required standard. The remaining workbooks are reviewed as a complete set at the end of the program.
b) Students are permitted one (1) resubmission of the workbook set, which must occur within the twelve (12) month course duration – see point 2.6.
2.4 Clinical Reflections: These must be submitted within three (3) weeks of the student’s In-person Clinic Mentoring Day.
2.5 Videoed Case Studies: Four (4) videoed case studies and write ups must be submitted and passed within the twelve (12) month course duration.
2.6 It is the student’s responsibility to submit all work with sufficient time remaining to allow for marking and any permitted resubmission before the course end date.
- Required standard
3.1 All submitted work must meet the required professional standard for clinical competency and certification.
3.2 Completion of the course timeframe, clinic attendance, or approval of an extension or deferral does not guarantee a pass.
3.3 If the required standard is not met following the permitted resubmission and support stages, the student may fail the course.
- Extensions beyond the course end date
4.1 Any time required beyond the twelve (12) month course duration is outside the original course agreement and may be offered as a paid extension, subject to approval.
4.2 Current extension options are:
One (1) month extension – £175
Three (3) month extension – £450
Six (6) month extension – £750
4.3 Extension fees must be paid in full before the extension period begins.
4.4 Each approved extension includes:
– Continued access to course materials for the duration of the extension
– Access to monthly small-group mentoring sessions (attendance required)
– Permission to submit or resubmit outstanding workbooks, module quizzes, assessments or case studies
– Marking and feedback during the extension period
– Final sign-off review once all requirements are met
4.5 The one-month extension is intended as a short, focused completion period and is limited to one use per student.
- Deferrals for exceptional circumstances
5.1 A one-time deferral may be granted in cases of serious illness, bereavement, or other significant exceptional circumstances, at the sole discretion of The Infant Feeding Academy.
5.2 A deferral pauses the student’s course for an agreed period but does not restart or extend the total twelve (12) month course duration.
5.3 Resumption of study and the In-person Clinic Mentoring Day is subject to availability. The Infant Feeding Academy reserves the right to update, modify, or discontinue program content or clinical schedules.
5.4 Where a program or clinic format has been significantly modified at the time of a student’s return, the Academy will offer a reasonable alternative where possible, but is under no obligation to provide a refund.
5.5 Everyday work pressures, parenting responsibilities, or general life demands do not qualify as exceptional circumstances.
5.6 Evidence may be requested to support a deferral request.
- Re-enrolment
6.1 If the student does not complete the course requirements within the twelve (12) month period plus any approved extension, or does not meet the required standard, re-enrolment may be required to continue.
6.2 Re-enrolment is treated as a new course place at a reduced fee, with inclusions defined at the time of re-enrolment.
6.3 Re-enrolment access will be granted for a period equivalent to the original course duration.
