Accredited Tongue-tie Assessor Award - Terms & Conditions - latest update 12/12/25

Terms and Conditions: Course Duration, Assessment, Extensions and Deferrals

1 Course duration

1.1 The standard course duration is twelve (12) months from the date of enrolment. This includes six (6) months for completion of theoretical learning and six (6) months for completion of practical case studies.

1.2 The student is responsible for managing their time and workload in order to complete all required learning activities and assessments within this twelve (12) month period.

2 Marking and resubmission within the standard course period

2.1 All assessments and case studies submitted within the twelve (12) month course duration will be marked and feedback provided.

2.2 Where work does not meet the required standard, the student may resubmit within the original twelve (12) month period at no additional cost.

2.3 It is the student’s responsibility to plan their submissions so that there is sufficient time for marking and any further resubmission before the course end date.

3 Required standard

3.1 All work submitted at any point during the course, including during any approved extension period, must meet the required standard for certification.

3.2 Approval of an extension or deferral does not guarantee a pass.

3.3 If, after reasonable support and opportunities to resubmit, the required standard is not met, the student may fail the course.

4 Extensions beyond the course end date

4.1 Any time required beyond the initial twelve (12) month course duration is outside the original course agreement and may be treated as a paid extension.

4.2 Extensions are not automatically granted and are subject to approval by the provider.

4.3 Current extension options are:

  1. a) One (1) month extension: £175
    b) Three (3) month extension: £450
    c) Six (6) month extension: £750

4.4 Extension fees must be paid before the extension period begins.

4.5 Each extension includes:

  1. a) Continued access to course materials for the duration of the extension
    b) Access to monthly small-group mentoring sessions
    c) Required attendance at the mentoring sessions during the extension period
    d) Permission to submit or resubmit outstanding case studies
    e) Marking and feedback on submissions during the extension window
    f) Final assessment and sign off review once all requirements are met

4.6 The one-month extension is intended as a short, intensive completion period and will be limited to one use per student. Further time required after a one-month extension normally requires a three or six-month extension.

4.7 Total extension time should not normally exceed six (6) months beyond the original course end date.

5 Re-enrolment

5.1 If the student has not completed the course requirements within twelve (12) months plus any approved extension period, or if the required standard has not been met, the provider may require the student to re-enrol if they wish to continue.

5.2 Re-enrolment is treated as a new, reduced-fee course place with inclusions defined at the time of re-enrolment.

6 Exceptional circumstances and deferrals

6.1 In cases of serious illness, bereavement or other significant exceptional circumstances, the provider may, at its sole discretion, offer a one-time deferral.

6.2 A deferral pauses the student’s course for an agreed period and allows them to rejoin with the remaining portion of their original course time later within the same twelve (12) month cycle.

6.3 A deferral may only be granted once per student.

6.4 A deferral does not restart or extend the total course duration. When the student returns, they will have access only to the remaining time they had at the point at which the deferral was granted.

6.5 Everyday work, parenting or general life pressures do not qualify as exceptional circumstances.

6.6 The student must notify the provider of exceptional circumstances as early as possible and provide appropriate evidence if requested.

7 General

7.1 These terms apply alongside the wider course Terms & Conditions.

7.2 The provider reserves the right to update extension fees and related policies from time to time, with notice provided to current students.

7.3 All decisions regarding extensions, deferrals and re-enrolment are at the provider’s discretion.
