Upon completion of this module, you will have a thorough understanding of the terminology used to classify different ‘types’ of tongue-tie. You will have an appreciation for the complexities of differential diagnosis and understand the need to have a sound understanding of how babies feed in order to fully support the dyad.
As part of this module, we look at the need to observe and assess feeding as a key indicator of possible frenulum restriction. We look at the ways in which babies compensate for restricted tongue function and what reasons, other than tongue-tie, could be the cause of feeding not going well.
