Learning Objectives
By the end of this masterclass, participants will be able to:
- 1. Summarise the evidence concerning Candida as a cause of nipple and breast pain during breastfeeding.
- 2. Recognise clinical features associated with positioning and attachment difficulties, nipple dermatitis, vasospasm and neuropathic pain.
- 3. Explain why an apparent improvement with antifungal treatment does not, by itself, confirm a Candida infection.
- 4. Use case details and the nipple pain clinical decision aid to consider possible causes and appropriate next steps.
